Giraffe Bookmark Craft

Make a spotted giraffe with a long neck and little legs that help hold your page.

What you’ll need

The printable template, colored paper, a pencil, scissors, craft glue, and a black marker. Cardstock works well for a sturdy bookmark or backing strip.

This one-page PDF contains the pattern pieces for the craft. Use it to trace shapes onto colored paper, or color the printed pieces before cutting them out.

Make your bookmark

1. Trace and cut the giraffe pieces from colored paper, including its head, body, face details, spots, tail, and tail tip.

2. Assemble the face and draw the eyes, nostrils, and mouth. Add the spots, tail, and head to the body.

3. Cut a cardstock rectangle for the bookmark base. Glue the giraffe’s body to the top of it, leaving the legs free to grip a page.

A little extra fun

Try a different spot color or write a name on the cardstock strip.

Printing and crafting tips

Print one test copy and check the size against your book before preparing a group set. Keep the bookmark flat, let all glue dry before using it, and ask an adult to help with small pieces or tricky cuts.
