Paper Bag Squirrel Puppet

Turn a lunch bag into a squirrel puppet with rounded ears and a big curling tail.

What you’ll need

A paper lunch bag, colored paper, scissors, craft glue, a pencil, and a black marker.

How to make it

1. Print the template and check the pieces against your bag. Trace and cut the parts from brown, tan, white, and pink paper, or choose your own colors.

2. Layer the tail pieces. Assemble the head with its face shape, ears, and cheeks, then draw the eyes, nose, and mouth.

3. Attach the legs and body to the bag front and the tail at one side. Glue the head to the folded bottom flap, leaving the flap and bag opening free to move.

A little extra fun

Let the glue dry before using your puppet to tell a woodland story.

Printing tips

Check the print preview and print one test copy before preparing a group set. Plain paper is useful for tracing patterns; cardstock makes sturdier cutouts and standing crafts. An adult can help with small pieces and tricky cuts.
