Paper Caterpillar Craft Template

Layer paper circles into a caterpillar and make little fruit shapes for story play.

What you’ll need

Colored paper, scissors, glue, a pencil, and a black marker. Optional craft stick for a puppet.

How to make it

1. Print the template, trace the pieces onto colored paper, and cut them out. Choose different shades for the body and spots.

2. Add the antennae and eyes to the head and draw a smile. Join the smaller body circles behind it with a slight overlap.

3. Add spots and legs to the body circles. Assemble the fruit shapes if you would like, and attach a craft stick behind the caterpillar to make a puppet.

A little extra fun

Use the fruit pieces for counting or to help tell a hungry caterpillar story.

Printing tips

Check the print preview and print one test copy before preparing a group set. Plain paper is useful for tracing patterns; cardstock makes sturdier cutouts and standing crafts. An adult can help with small pieces and tricky cuts.
